Dark Market - An Introduction Slavery. Once it was commonplace. Be on the losing side of a war. Be a member of a tribe absorbed by a greater power. Be unlucky or in some individual cases …. lucky. Be any of these things and you found yourself entering a world divided into two classes of individuals. The owned and the owning. Over time, history shifted, slavery became less common, finally illegal in most cultures. This did little to change the realities of economics and nothing to alter human nature. Among the population remained two distinct classes of people. Those whose desires ran to control, the need to own, shape and improve. Paired with those whose need it was to be controlled, whose limbs were bare without restraints, who spirits were bleak without absolute guidance and control. A marketplace always existed among the vastly wealthy. The deeply rooted, landed aristocracy. Those who were born into a class far above the vast majority of humans, born breathing the rarefied air of control from the cradle. Once slavery was no longer openly practiced, quality merchandise became rarer. More difficult to obtain for those whose tastes demanded it. The marketplace first dried up. Then disappeared … officially.
